We look forward to checking in with you over the summer. We will continue to use ParentSquare throughout the summer, so please be sure to check in frequently for both group and whole school communications. It might be good to turn your notifications back on or off of digest so you don't miss anything. You also can access your child's class parent communication information in the FACTS school directory.

One of the easiest ways we will get to share with each other is through our Seesaw Summer Classroom. We have set up class for students to share work and ideas. In Seesaw, we also have opened up the classroom Blog and will provide optional activities to do and share with each other.

Seesaw:

  1. Go to app.seesaw.me

  2. Choose "I’m a Student"

  3. Sign in using your school Google email address

  4. Click on your profile icon on the top left

  5. Click on the +Join Class button code: UBIL PDMQ. This code expires on June 11, 2020

Over the summer, you will be able to access:

  • Summer reading suggestions and requirements (available June 12th)

  • M.A.C.K.S. (fun optional enrichment activities) designed for the as community family challenges and classroom specific challenges

  • Online educational websites and games vetted by your Mackintosh teachers

  • Opportunities for Zoom "Summer Camp" activities - Mackinficents- throughout the summer

  • School supply lists (preliminary school supply list at end of June, refined based on health department recommendations in early August)

  • Detailed school calendar will be available in July

These will be special activities offered by your favorite Mack teachers - through Zoom - similar to those shared in the Macknificent Fun day during the last week of school. Please watch for sign-ups on Parent Square starting June 12th. Macknificent activities will be offered on select Thursdays throughout the summer. You may sign-up up to 24 hours before each event. We hope to have many fun options for all ages.

Summer Reading

  1. Read and track with a family member your 15 minutes per day of reading choice and "best fit" books. Epic is free in June (it will cost families $7.99 per month for July and August, if they choose) and offers excellent resources, vetted by your teachers. Log-in information is included in your student’s Mackintosh email.

  2. Choose books that highlight themes of resilience such as:

  • A Perfectly Messed-Up Story by Patrick McDonnell

  • Visitor for Bear by Bonny Becker

  • Rosie Revere, Engineer by Andrea Beaty

  • The Adventures of Beekle: The Imaginary Friend by Dan Santat

  1. Share at least one book per month in Seesaw.
