Grade 1

Welcome to 1st Grade Communications!

We're looking forward to a new year!

Hello 1st graders and families!

I'm so excited that we get to start this school year together soon! Do you like my old first grade picture? Check back here in the coming weeks for more information and for now focus on setting up a strong daily reading routine.

Here are some important updates and information:

  • The first day of school for in-person first grade students will be on August 28th. Students may be dropped off starting at 8:10 and class starts at 8:30.

  • Hybrid first graders will start on August 31st.

  • Please be sure to complete the summer reading as outlined below; we will be discussing our Seesaw posts during the first week of school. Let me know if you need more information about getting on and posting to Seesaw.

  • Welcome Huruy and Stella! They are two new students in our class.

  • Thank you to Tiffany for volunteering to be our classroom parent representative to Parent Council! Please look for an email from her soon as she is organizing our Virtual Classroom Meet and Greet (formerly the beginning of school picnic). I look forward to seeing all of you there!

Summer Reading

  1. Read and track with a family member your 15 minutes per day of reading choice and "best fit" books. Epic is free in June (it will cost families $7.99 per month for July and August, if they choose) and offers excellent resources, vetted by your teachers. Log-in information is included in your student’s Mackintosh email.

  2. Share at least one book per month in Seesaw.
